JERWOOD COLLECTION AT JERWOOD GALLERY, HASTINGS
Curated by writer and lecturer James Russell, Century opens at Jerwood Gallery on 23rd October 2016. The exhibition will bring together one hundred Modern British artists, showcasing a vibrant mix of paintings, sculpture and works on paper selected from the Ingram Collection and Jerwood Collection.
Presented thematically, the exhibition will expose intriguing relationships and surprising similarities between works on display and makes use of the gallery’s corridors, corners and changing perspectives to add intrigue and fun.
Jerwood Gallery, Hastings is the home of the Jerwood Collection which was created by Jerwood Foundation’s Chairman Alan Grieve, who began to collect works for it in 1993. The collection now comprises over 250 works of 20th and 21st century British art and continues to grow with new acquisitions and donations under the direction of its curator, Lara Wardle.

For this exhibition the collection is joined by works from the Ingram Collection. Chris Ingram, an entrepreneur and philanthropist has been collecting since 2002 and loans works from his collection widely to exhibitions, galleries and museums. Century is on view until 8th January 2017.
Also at Jerwood Gallery, Hastings In Focus: Stanley Spencer- A Panorama of Life opens on 15th October and continues until 8th January 2017.
JERWOOD CHARITABLE FOUNDATION
Jerwood Charitable Foundation backs another two years of South East Dance’s Dramaturg in Residence programme following successful pilot year
South East Dance has secured Jerwood Charitable Foundation’s support for years two and three of its Dramaturg in Residence programme. The programme aims to introduce more UK artists to the potential of dramaturgy within the creative process, providing them with the resources to collaborate with a dramaturg and develop their own learning in this area of practice. The activity for years two and three will take place between November 2016 and October 2018 and is set to include a variety of opportunities, from weekend intensives to a range of collaborative models that support artists to work with dramaturgs.
Jerwood Drawing Prize Winners Announced
Jerwood Drawing Prize has established a reputation for its commitment to championing excellence, and for promoting and celebrating the breadth of contemporary drawing practice within the UK. Prizes in 2016 are as follows, First Prize of £8,000: Solveig Settemsdal; Second Prize of £5,000: Anna Sofie Jespersen; two Student Awards of £2,000 each: Jade Chorkularb and Amelie Barnatha.
